It is also worth noting that Jewish organizations like CAMERA not only go after people who are in the spotlight, they also attack ordinary joe blow citizens who they can set their dishonest, mean minded, un-American sights on.
I have been the object of such religious hate campaigns for years, as have my family.
I have a certificate in my safe thanking me for my generous support of the "Wall of Tolerance" which is co-signed by the joint chairs of The National Campaign for Tolerance; Morris Dees and Rosa Parks.
Anan is correct, of course. It would also be far cheaper to not have gotten into that mess in the first place. Same goes for Iraq.
I am infuriated at what Bush and the Republicans did to our country, their lame brained attempts to blame the Democrats for what they did, and the American peoples acceptance of those lies.
The only solution to the gross wealth inequities in this country and the world is precisely what the French people did in 1789.
I have no problem with what Mel Gibson or Rupert Murdoch or whoever say. What they say is just their opinion. They are entitled to their opinion.
I have a problem with the obvious abuse of power that Beck and Limbaugh and that whole right wing conservative crowd demonstrate. They are engaging in conduct that is clearly anarchy. They are promoting anarchy. And anarchy, in the United States of America, is against the Law.
The Tea Party is a racist organization that demands that the United States Government be overthrown. That is also against the Law. The Republican party has been working towards that end for years. That is against the Law. The Republican party is an un-American organization. They have been un-American for years. Why is everyone afraid to say that which is so obvious about them?
They do it at a local level (I've seen them in my community) at a state level and at a national level. They engage in conduct that would have me or you put in a cell! I don't get it. They do it all the time. And they get away with it.
This sounds strangely like the idealistic factions in the US and other western countries. The end of days Christians vs. the liberals; the Israeli supporters…their demonization of the Muslim world; their belief in Armageddon, which they are working very hard to make happen, their "Left Behind" novels physical and spiritual Ascension to heaven etc., etc.
With all of these nuts trying to rule the world (or destroy it) I’m surprised any of us are still here.
I thought the point was that 30,000 Palestinians were incarcerated for the benefit of 600 Jewish settlers. I must have been smoking the wrong pipe. But, wait!!! I don't smoke???
I was remiss in assuming that others would know that "doing the right thing because it's the right thing to do" would require that the doer would have enough intelligence to know what the consequences of the done thing would be.
If the purpose of the article was to demonstrate the totally ridiculous state of the Republican Party, or the political right, I get it. I also get it from the moronic thinking of some of the right wing respondents to the article.
The war in Afghanistan was started by the Bush administration with the whole hearted support of the Democrats. Including me. I would do the same thing again.
The way the war in Afghanistan has played out is probably not the fault of anyone. Wars have a mind and will of their own. Most of the messes Obama is trying to deal with were inherited from previous administrations. (Plural). I'm surprised that Bush seems to have had more support from the US public than Obama does. But then small, evil little people always make a lot more noise than good people. That is the way of the world.
As for this site in particular, I would be a lot less knowledgeable about the mess in the Mid East if it were not for the information I get on this site.
The last I heard she was in Jordan with her family living in one of those squalid apartment buildings that Iraqi exiles live in. That was over a year ago. I don't know where they are now.
I hope Riverbend and her family are OK.
It is probably best not to disclose her whereabouts as the Shiites are still tracking down and killing Sunnis.
I'm opposed to the United States having troops in 130 + countries. I have never bought the Republicans lies about their reasons for invading Iraq and I am convinced that Bush let Osama Bin Laden escape from the Bora Bora Mountains because the Bush family is old and dear friends of the Bin Laden family.
I have been actively protesting against the Bush/Republicans for years (about twenty) and have had to pay a considerable price for that. As have my family.
I have never received a dime for the work I've done or the damage to myself or my family.
I believe the American people are, for the most part, stupid, uninformed and uncaring people. That's our countries major problem.
I supported the bombing and invasion of Afghanistan because I was still enraged about the Twin Towers and wanted to see everyone involved in that despicable act killed. As time went by I realized the Bush/Republicans were just using the Twin Towers tragedy to further their own political ends. That's when I began to oppose the war in Afghanistan and was violently opposed to an invasion of Iraq.
I now realize that the war in Afghanistan and the occupation of Iraq are both exercises in stupidity...as are most wars and occupations. They are both no win situations and we need to get the hell out of there and let those people sort out their own problems.
I also realized, after watching the ugly spectacle of Saddam Hussein's hanging, that the Iraqi people are not worth my worrying about.
I was especially happy to hear that Christian women of differing faiths from different countries are getting involved in the relief efforts for the Palestinian people. Jews, and especially Israeli Jews, are totally out of touch with the Power that women have in Christian churches, collectively and individually, and the immutable force those women have on worldly events.
This may also be said for the Women of Muslim faiths.
Take care Zionists, you sail on strange and treacherous shoals now.
I've said this several times on this and other blog sites: I worked in the semiconductor materials and devices field for several years in the seventies and eighties. We produced solar panels that were almost comparative in price per megawatt with oil produced electricity. That research and development work was shut down by big oil and other major energy producers.
Prior to working in the semiconductor field I worked in the oil industry for several years. My experience in that field was that the major players in the oil industry are dishonest people.
I have a diploma in Chemistry a BSc in Chemical Engineering and about forty years experience in the technical field. I find that some technical people are interesting and well rounded, like me, and others are pedantic, redundant and ill-informed.
This is extremely interesting. When I first read about the trillion dollars worth of mineral deposits in Afghanistan I was very happy for the Afghans. After a day or two I started wondering if this was an honest appraisal of the minerals, or some political ploy, like a justification for the invasion and ongoing war in Afghanistan. After reading the above article I have to surmise the latter.
I don't always agree with what Professor Cole says and sometimes I don't like what he says but I'm not going to try to nit pick what he is doing into irrelevance because it is too important to be silenced and also very few other people have the guts to do it.
The poor guy looks like the Israeli commandos really worked him over. Did they do that before or after he helped save them from the activists? I just read a Yahoo article about Obamas News Press Conference with Abba regarding the flotilla "incident" and other matters. While Obama did not condemn Israel as severely as many other companies have, at least he was quite unhappy about the incident and Israels conduct and he said so. That's some improvement.
I am still confident that other powers are at work in this situation and Israel will feel the results of that powers definitive action. I have the same faith about my personal life and my detractors fate. It's amazing how people always think they are immune from the inevitable consequences of their actions.
I remember reading an article about the Russian Jewish population who hated Israel because of the terrible discrimination they were subjected to by other more orthodox (un-Russian) Jews. If you are intent on proving the allegations in the article have no merit then no amount of facts in the world will sway your bias.
The Jews I know and who are my friends in the U.S. are very decent people. They are always considerate of their friends, including me and my family, and they go out of their way to do the right thing by others. They are not religious zealots, they are appalled by some of Israels policies and they certainly do not hate Muslims or anyone else for their religious beliefs, nationality or any other reason.
They are also a lot more inbiased about other peoples opinions (including mine) than most people who I hear on the internet. Including me.
Knowing these people as well as I do makes it difficult for me to understand why the Zionists in Israel are doing what they are doing. I just don't understand it!
I was very much afraid this would happen. People don't seem to understand that those persons presently running Israel have absolutely no regard for others. They have no regard for other peoples rights, mental and physical health, property, ideals, religions or anything else you want to name. This is so reminiscent of Germanys horrific experiment in Nazism that it's hard to believe the Jews were a primary victim of that black mark on the history of the Human Race.
I'm afraid their admonition of "Never Forget" rings false in the ears of the rest of the world.
The Republican Party is a war party. Republicans love WAR. They glory in gore. They lust for the power of vaporizing human flesh with two thousand pound bombs. Don't you remember when Rumsfeld was talking about the "flash and awe" campaign in Iraq. He was having an orgasm. His eyes were the eyes of a religious fanatic who had just seen GOD. That is the mentality of the Republican. And they really, really don't understand anyone who does not think as they think.
That's the way it's always been and always will be.
What a shame...as our once great country goes down the tube.
I hope these ships get through to the Palestinians, but I seriously doubt that they will.
We have equipped the Israelis with a tremendous amount of arms...including a powerful navy. I don't see how a flotilla of eight or nine unarmed ships is going to prevail over that force of arms. The United States and other countries make that possible.
I am now wondering what the comparisons in Figure 1 would be for Palestinians vs. Jews in present day Israel?
Does anyone know?
Also, I have had the uncomfortable feeling in the last year or so that the Anti-Defamation League or a similar organization is engaging in this type of behavior against citizens of the United States of America.
Mark is right, of course. Look at all the way out excuses for invading Iraq. Politicians are not honest. The fact that they are Democrats does not make them less dishonest. I was very much a fan of Hillary Clinton for years. Not so now. I am betrayed. Again.
When the United States decided to give Israel A bombs the US did not think Israel would use the bombs to coerce, blackmail, bully and terrorize its neighbors (and the world community). How stupid of us.
What is happening to the Palestinians has been and is still illegal from a jurisprudence point of view. More importantly to me is that the Israelis treatment of the Palestinians is morally reprehensible.
Those who share in or defend the Israelis evil and reprehensible treatment of the Palestinians are morally decrepit. I am not interested in their justifications any more than I am interested in the serial killers justifications of his horrifically indefensible crimes.
Why don't you tell me how the Nazis treatment of Jews and others was justified by their circumstances? The reasoning is exactly the same.
Hmmn. I just read the latest world population figure and it's 6.82 billion so 1.5 billion Muslims are a little less than one seventh of the world population.
I think the last world census put the world population at about six billion. So the 1.5 billion Muslims would be about a quarter of the world population. That's kind of a nit-picky but it's better that I point that out here than someone critiquing an article or book.
You comments on Islam are correct, of course. And nut cases will always try to hang the terrorism in the world on Muslims or some other movement that they hate.
Angry Arab follows mid Eastern affairs very closely and being from that area originally, I think, he is very astute in his knowledge. He tends to get a little carried away with himself but he is still a very good source of information
The religious right wing "Dispensationalist" Christians in the US are and have been backing Israel for quite a while now. They are as fanatical about that as they are about their other religious beliefs.
The length of your "far" is a long, long way. (%^D
That is very interesting. And educational. Thank you.
Iraqi Parties reject US Power Sharing Proposal
Way long past time.
I don't get it about Ernie Badgett either!!! Maybe someone could enlighten me.
What it means is..."total insanity"...
It is also worth noting that Jewish organizations like CAMERA not only go after people who are in the spotlight, they also attack ordinary joe blow citizens who they can set their dishonest, mean minded, un-American sights on.

Atilgan seems to have condensed the situation very definitely.
A very informative article. Thank you.

Also, a "worst case" scenario for the neocons.
