Thanks Juan. Great reminder what This Land is ALL about. And the film with Seeger and ALL the happy joyful and smiling faces just says it all. I wish we had him back. He was America. Springsteen as well

    • theswan 02/03/2017 at 9:40 am

So they yell "bring it on" projecting more arms sales, and jobs, jobs, jobs to keep his America great again. Yes we will see where all the lies will get them, that bite in the ass more than likely

  • Trump's Visa Ban is about anti-Muslim Bigotry, not Security
    • theswan 01/25/2017 at 9:01 am

Lets note we have been bombing these countries for years and he may accept this to mean this should be the extent of his national security apparatus. May he be thinking that this will allow him to downsize allll the other agencies who's job it is to protect his oiled heartland, including the FBI, NSA, and his favorite CIA. Maybe the TSA, as well. He certainly doesn't need any daily intelligence. He has got all the oil he needs from above. And he can balance his budget with weapons sales to his Saudi friends(?). And if that doesn't work he an fire everyone and do a 180.

  • Why the White Working Class Rebelled: Neoliberalism is Killing Them (Literally)
    • theswan 11/09/2016 at 9:15 am

That neoliberalism makes (made) the Democrats look weak, which they are, and have been. They not long ago controlled both houses and used the same mindset refusing to standup to the Iraq war etc.... You might say the Clinton's lost the backbone for the Democratic party. Remember Americans don't like weakling type politicians and especially the ones that are perceived to have run off with the (their) money.

      Disingenuous says it well.
A system of laws built on
lies incarcerates the whole system to change. The road blocks have been built. Neither Hillary or the Donald will have a hard time of keeping their sheep in order. And certainly their politics will dictate no change to keep their lock up in place.

  • Are Sanders' Criticisms of Israeli Occupation Policies unprecedented in a Presidential Campaign?
    • theswan 04/07/2016 at 9:18 am

Bernie is neither influenced by money or politics on this issue, and many others as well. He basically believes in fairness. He is a champion of the middle ground, a peacemaker.
I hope he get his chance to influence more change than to date.
And I hope other American Jews step to the plate for him.
He's encourages the best in people.
      Good luck to him

What is America's goal here? Are we supporting another tin horn, expending huge portions of American's tax dollars just to support a beach head to southern Russia?
Putin's idea of a diplomatic solution might not be such a bad idea because this war will be a never ending caper we just don't need.

  • As Iran takes on ISIL/ Daesh, can it avoid the Sectarian Trap?
    • theswan 09/18/2015 at 11:55 am

      Like your article.
Obviously a lot of things come into play in middle eastern politics. Aren't we lucky not to have to deal in sectarian politics, (some would love to change that) More power to the separation of church and state. This shows we must forever strive to strengthen the divide of separation (in this regard) rather than bend to the wishes of any religious denomination.

Can't find too much wrong with this man's statements. They seem to be backed up with some long history.
America should try living by some of these ideas. But, I venture arms sales may be too important to our values to go that route. But, then again, shouldn't our Christian values have some bearing on our thinking?
Just where do American values reside?

How could the powers to be (along with their military) in Washington not just love this? There will be no end in sight and Washington's powerful pockets will be full of military hardware and cash. And they will be able to display to their people that the budget is balanced, their cars are full of cheap gas, and all is well. And don't forget their "vote for me" slogan.

This is one of the best articles on feared justice I have come across. The powers to be would not want to read this and might find it real hard to publish it. Thank You "Informed".
So Bush created the distorted lying game of round and round politically feared (ing)justice and Obama gave him cover and looked the OTHER WAY. He (Barack)may find no way out at this at this point. He created the monster on his first week in office by protecting a less that honorable prior president. And he went to college to practice law? Harvard should ask for the return of his papers. I'd like to ask him to make the necessary decisions to close Guantanamo and free Bradley Manning, a purveyor of truth for a right justice or hand in his papers and go home. Chicago needs a new mayor.
Anyway, I find this article exceptional. Thanks

"So which is it, is it bad to put down laborers or is it bad to commemorate their struggles?"
In America it just seems to be both. The elite will never give and inch and will always take the mile. It been so since Columbus and his friends set foot here 600 years ago.

You might think American capitalists would know the difference between a project that would pay off in their future and one that will be obsolete, if it is not already.
